ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Nurse Practitioner will be supporting 3 Urologists performing follow-up appointments for urinary tract infection, hemoturia, urgent pc, placing pessarie, refilling prescriptions and other duties as assigned. The NP participates as a team member in the provision of health and medical care, interacting with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care. Maintains accurate, legible and confidential records, participates in continuous quality review, including systematic review of medical and other records and treatment plans on a periodic basis, maintains current knowledge by attending continuing education programs. COLLABORATING PHYSICIAN(S) It is the responsibility of the NP to keep the collaborating physician(s) informed of his/her practice and to seek assistance, refer the patient to the physician or obtain further instructions from the physician whenever doubt exists or prudent medical practice dictates. The NP will alternate visits with the attending physician and ensure that NP notes are co-signed within 45 days of the visit by the attending physician PRESCRIBING MEDICATIONS The NP must maintain a current Furnishing Number and a DEA. All prescriptions not included in the NP Furnishing Formulary shall be authorized by the collaborative physician. CODE OF CONDUCT The NP will conduct all interactions with CSMG/CSHA physicians, patients, visitors, employees or any other individual, with courtesy, respect and dignity. The NP will refrain from conduct that may be reasonably considered offensive to others or disruptive to the workplace or patient care. This includes the use of profanity, sexual comments or images, racial or ethnic slurs, gender-specific comments or any comments that would offend someone on the basis of his or her age, race, color, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, ancestry, physical or mental handicap. The NP will follow all skilled nursing facility rules and regulations while in the facility. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses with specialized advanced education and clinical competency to provide health and medical care for diverse populations in a variety of primary, acute and long term care settings. The Nurse Practitioner must have the following education and training:
Master of Science Degree in Nursing
Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the Board of Registered Nursing.
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license issued by the State of California.
Minimum three years clinical nursing experience (including acute care). Gynecology experience required. Urology experience preferred, but not required
Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certificate and furnishing license (or to be completed within one year from date privileges are approved).
Furnishing number issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certifications.
National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner, (or eligible) completed within one year from date privileges are approved.
