UCSF Medical Center's blood disorder specialists provide the best care possible for patients with acute and chronic blood conditions, including blood-related cancers, marrow failure, anemias, and bleeding and clotting disorders. The diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders can be emotionally and physically challenging, and we are dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality health care and support.
UCSF is a leader in blood and bone marrow transplants for a wide range of blood disorders. Our group is also home to the UCSF Hemophilia Treatment Center, a state and federally designated comprehensive treatment center for patients with bleeding disorders.
Under the supervision of the Ambulatory Patient Care Manager, the Registered Nurse - Practice Nurse in the Hematology/Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinic is responsible for providing direct and indirect clinical care to adult outpatients who have a variety of hematologic, immunologic, and oncologic conditions. Care is provided through the systematic application of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. All components of this process are individualized to meet the physiological, psychosocial and developmental needs of the patients. The Practice Nurse performs ongoing assessments and modifies the care planning process as needed, to ensure continuity of care between inpatient, outpatient, homecare, home, and multiple providers. The Practice Nurse is actively involved in patient, staff and provider education. (S)he participates in clinical research activities within the program and incorporates research findings into planning and implementation of care.
* Minimum two years of experience in adult hematology/ blood and marrow transplant nursing * Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California * Active American Heart Association CPR certification * Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card * Baccalaureate or Master's degree in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Demonstrated knowledge and skills essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position * Demonstrated ability to properly triage adult Hematology/BMT patients via telephone call and in person * Demonstrated leadership experience * Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, think critically and communicate calmly in complex situations * Must be comfortable navigating and documenting in multiple electronic systems * The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
* One year of experience in an outpatient Heme/Onc/BMT clinic
* Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California * Active American Heart Association CPR certification * Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card

Work Environment * Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture. * Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility. * Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows. * Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments. * Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft. The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.
