UCSF Medical Center's blood disorder specialists provide the best care possible for patients with acute and chronic blood conditions, including blood-related cancers, marrow failure, anemias, and bleeding and clotting disorders. The diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders can be emotionally and physically challenging, and we are dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality health care and support.
UCSF is a leader in blood and bone marrow transplants for a wide range of blood disorders. Our group is also home to the UCSF Hemophilia Treatment Center, a state and federally designated comprehensive treatment center for patients with bleeding disorders.
The Nurse Navigator serves in a leadership role and delivers direct patient care to an assigned adult Hematology BMT population. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Oncology Nursing Society's Scope and Standards of Oncology Nursing Practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization.
* Three (3) years of RN experience * Two (2) or more years of recent adult clinical hematology and/or oncology nursing experience * Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California * Active American Heart Association CPR certification * The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
* Two (2) or more years of recent outpatient hematology and/or oncology nursing experience * OCN certification or other relevant specialty certification * Experience working with hematology or oncology patients * Experience working at an academic medical center
* Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California * Active American Heart Association CPR certification

Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture. * Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility. * Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows. * Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments. * Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft. The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.
