Advertised Summary Job Description: The Columbia Department of Neurology seeks a Nurse Practitioner for the General Child Neurology Practice. The Department provides clinical care and clinical research for children with a range of neurological conditions.
Working under the supervision of the attending physicians, the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the evaluation and management of pediatric patients with neurologic conditions including learning disabilities, headaches/migraines, developmental delays, tics, and concussions.
Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: Taking medical histories and performing physical examinations with attending physicians in outpatient; coordinating admissions, discharges and workup of patients; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications and managing patients by telephone as appropriate; seeing selected patients in routine follow-up appointments, and for urgent same or next-day office visits under the supervision of an attending physician; coordinating multidisciplinary services; coordinating and facilitating patient education; and participation in clinical research protocols.
Other related duties as assigned/required.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of nursing experience, plus a current New York State NP and RN license. Must be able to meet New York-Presbyterian Hospital credentialing requirements, prior to starting.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in neurological patient care; pediatrics or family medicine. Experience in an academic medical center.
