Overview The Vascular Access Technician (VAT) is qualified to place and remove peripheral IV lines, obtain blood specimen with initial IV start, discontinue PICC lines under the direction of the registered nurse and verification of physician order. To be qualified you need to be a currentLPN, CMA or EMT or similar licensure. This position is 56 hours per two weeks on the Day/Evening shift (shifts 07-1530 or 15-2330) with an every other weekend rotation and a holiday rotation. This position is eligible for full benefits . The VAT will evaluate vascular access devices (VAD) for complications, report to registered nurse and initiate resolution as directed by RN according to established protocols. This positionwill collaborate with patient care units and other departments to promote and maintain customer satisfaction and positive patient outcomes. In addition, they will collect data to assure positive quality outcomes and performance improvement. They may administer topical, intra-dermal, and IV medications for the purpose of placing, evaluating and maintaining VAD. The VAT may not administer any medications for the purpose of resolving a VAD complication. Required:
